Paradise of Homeless Dogs and Cats

It is sad how many cities tend to “get rid” of homeless dogs and cats, because they obviously don’t want them to be loose. In Kiev, the capital of Ukraine the homeless animals are lucky, because they have their own shelter where they can get something to eat, and have shelter for the night, and of course if it is bad and cold weather.

The shelter is located on a former city dump and is run by SOS animals society of Kiev. It has cheerful paintings and graffiti of dogs and cats on the walls, so it looks friendly. 2000 stray dogs and cats are staying there every day, and it seems like it’s working with no problems whatsoever; all of the animals are getting along, even dogs with cats.

It is best for them to stay there than to be put to sleep because nobody wants them. Now that we’re talking about dogs, you just have to take to meet this Pug, the saddest dog ever.

Abandoned Soviet Airfield

In previous articles you have seen abandoned, rusty and old military base in Murmansk and abandoned complex of Russian Anti-missile defense system. Now there has been found something in Ukraine that seems to be an abandoned airfield. Russos, a known photo-blogger, was one night on his way to a destination in Ukraine, or Crimea, when he decided to place a tent outside on a field near a random Ukraine forest.

The next day he got surprised when he realized where he had spent the night; on an airfield no longer in use, so he took his camera and started capturing everything he saw. The look that the airfield gives is so powerful that it almost looks like the airplanes are ready to take off and go to war. Well, we can just hope that will never happen, and that it will stay abandoned.

Mysterious Fairytale Land In Ukraine

Fairytales are one of the nice thing we happily remember from our childhood. Almost every child who have heard some fairytale got a wish to be a part of it. Fairytale land could be imagined as the place with a lot of colors, flowers, unusual plants, colorful mushrooms and similar things.

Someone in Kiev, Ukraine, decided to make something what could be described as an entrance to fairytale land. Those photos were taken in some private apartment in Kiev but photographer refused to reveal the location and the author of this masterpiece.

As you can see, a few techniques were combined while making this. We can’t call it just sculpture, or painting or mosaic, it is a little bit of all. It seems that whole apartment is decorated in this way. There is a plenty of different fairytale-like sculptures in there, fixed an painted with a lot of care and style.

I just wonder, if this is the entrance of the fairytale land, then, how incredible the fairytale land itself could be, since the location and the author of this artwork remains unknown, we probably will never know that but our imagination could tell us.

Abandoned Top Secret Soviet Underground Submarine Base

Balaklava, in Ukraine, can even today be remembered for having been one of the secret places in Russia that was extremely famous for its Nuclear Submarine Base. The place witnessed a huge underground submarine base and amazing docks, in USSR, and this was functional till 1996 when the last Russian submarine left Ukraine. But the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 compelled the Russian Army to leave the place.

The entire town was involved at the Base at that time. The people of Balaklava, worked so dedicatedly at the Base, that it was hard for any outsider to intrude into the place or visit the town without going through a tremendous chain of investigations and identification processes. As a matter of fact, even the family members or the relatives of the workers were scrutinized completely.

As mentioned earlier that the base was active till 1991, the operations were carried after until 1993 when the decommissioning process started, and the low yield torpedoes and the Russian warheads were removed from the place.

Post 1996, the whole Submarine Base, the Cannel System, and the small Museum that displays the old warheads, weapons, deep inside the hillside, are all open to visitors. The place have become more of a tourist spot, for the history lovers, situated 10km south east of Sevastopol on the Black Sea Coast.
