Probably the world’s largest scale model of a city is this one of Shangai, and is to be found in the Shangai Urban Planning Museum on the third floor. Shangai is China’s most populated city, and one of the country’s most important cities, also known as the “Pars of the East”. It serves as cultural, commercial, financial and industrial center of China, and is one of the busiest ports in the world, and it’s only growing bigger and bigger.

The model that has been built covers over 100 square meters and is actually a vision of what Shangai will look like in year 2020. The detailed work is really something to check out if you’re ever visiting this busy city. Another fun object that you can find in China is the Water World resort in Songjiang.

Most people have heard about the legend and genius Nikola Tesla. Some of the things he invented were X-ray, the radio, microwave oven, electron microscope, neon lights, speedometer, and he was the first to design the hydro-electric power plant in Niagara Falls. A lot of his inventions were unfortunately credited by others, and his biggest competitor Thomas Edison did everything to erase him from the history books. The ideas that Tesla came up with became to a point so extreme that people laughed at his theories and called him a lunatic. Thanks to this “crazy scientist” people are doing weird stuff with electricity because of his inventions.

These pictures represent some of these works where people have literally played with electricity. It looks dangerous and it surely is, you don’t want to stand in the middle of the purple electric lightning. Tesla most amazing theory was that he predicted that Internet would be invented someday where voice and images are transported through the air. He was so obsessed with his work that it’s claimed he only slept for 2-3 hours at night. If you find science interesting you should check out the top 10 mad scientists in history.

Hyungkoo Lee has come up with the idea to represent famous cartoon characters as skeletons. He wanted to figure out how the anatomy of the cartoons would look like if they were alive, and the materials used to manage to create this are some synthetic materials and surprisingly enough real animal bones. He called his project “Animatus” and the cartoon characters used are Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Tom & Jerry, Road Runner, etc.

The skeletons are photographed with a black background to express the white in the bones even more, and the models look like they are in motion so that the skeleton cartoons will appear more alive. Some will say that they look kind of creepy while others will think they are kind of cute, especially the models representing Huey, Dewey and Louie. Something that reminds of this work is the pin-up calendar that features x-ray photos of women bodies, so it looks like skeletons are posing

Being an avid Star Wars fan, Travis S. has build an electric guitar that looks like Han Solo’s starship from the movies. With a huge passion for both guitars and Star Wars, Travis used a month to create his little piece of art by using a vintage Millennium Falcon toy. He claimed that he would have get done in a week since he only was building in the weekends. This was a piece of cake for Travis because he had built guitars with his father in high school. The Star Wars guitar is created to play as the plastic body does not affect the sound.

To give the piece and extra touch Travis has decorated it with LED lights containing their own batteries. He also had to install a maple block through the whole ship so the tension from the strings wouldn’t break it. Speaking of Star Wars starship, this Star Wars fan created a bed that looks like Millennium Falcon.

We have all heard about origami – the traditional Japanese folk art of paper folding. It’s super popular in Japan and it has spread around the whole world, and evolved into a modern art form. The folds in origami are basic and there are not many, but there are several forms of origami and several things you can make out of this small number of folds. One of them is origami architecture that involves using cut-out and folded paper, as thin paperboard. The three-dimensional are the hardest ones, and require skills of an architect.

These pictures are showing some of the great works of origami architecture where some of the papers are opened 360o that involves the hardest folding. Just imagine how many prototypes had to be made before they managed to create the perfect origami building.

Sleeping Beauty Castle is beautiful fairy-tale building which original version can be seen in Disneyland park in Hong Kong. Originally, the design is based on Neuschwanstein Castle which can be found in Bavaria, in Germany. Some versions of Sleeping Beauty Castle can be also seen in Disneyland in USA, Disneyland Paris and Disneyland Tokyo.

This LEGO replica of Sleeping Beauty Castle is pretty magnificent creation. Here you can see some photos of thit beautiful replica made completely from LEGO bricks. It was posted by Brickshelf user Grrandram.

We do not own information about the number of LEGO bricks which were used for construction of this colorful replica but we are pretty sure that it wasn’t easy at all to create this.

If you are used to see those calendars with nude photos then this one will be huge surprise for you. This calendar features women bodies, indeed, but some wouldn’t be so happy when they see that all photos on this calendar are actually x-ray photos. This calendar was made by EIZO company which is manufacturing equipment related to medical examination. That is pretty unique way to advertise the company for sure and it seems that they found models with perfect bones and skeleton structure for this calendar.

From what we have seen in last sequel of the Batman, we could surely expect that Batman is going to be pretty crazy grandpa, if Joker or Riddler doesn’t kill him before he gets old. Italian cartoonist Donald Soffritti has made some illustrations where he showed us how superheroes and their inevitable ‘friends’, supervillains, could look and act when they get old.

In Donald’s imagination, Superman is naive old guy which acts like a baby and spends the most of his time picking his nose and eating candies, Spiderman is wearing diapers and Batman is freaky grandpa in wheelchair and it seems that he is having a lot of fun with his best friend Robin, like in good old times.

Composing LEGO bricks has became an art. If you have some talent you can easily become one of such artist recreating some well known building or other object. It is known that some packages of LEGO bricks come with human or animal figures, too, like policeman, firefighter, taxi driver, etc. Here you can see some photos of LEGO figures of some of the world’s most famous people like Pele, Benjamin Franklin, Buffalo Bill, Donald Trump and others. Similar to caricatures, most of them are funny-looking and entertaining. All of them are made in one piece as one LEGO brick so you can include them into your LEGO constructions.

You want to travel around the world but you have not enough funds for such adventure? Well, you can always travel around the world with your imagination. Andrey Gordeev is Russian artist who has found amazing idea how to create something different and out of the box. He decided to imagine how it would look if he would be traveling all around the world and then, he put that on paper.

The result is a series of unique and entertaining paintings called ‘Around the World in 12 Months’ where we can see how Andrey’s imagination travels around the world. As you can see from attached photos, he decided to take the perspective of the driver. Every of his paintings look like a photo taken from inside the car.

You can be the meanest superhero but you have to know that nothing lasts forever and even superheroes get old one day. Putting a superhero into a regular nursing home with other ‘ordinary’ people is not a good idea so someone got an idea to create a nursing home for superheroes.

Here you can see a few of realistic sculptures about how the life of aged superhero could look like if there was such nursing home. It seems that the Catwoman is, unlike the others, still in perfect shape. Superman’s hair is not so black and shiny anymore and, as you can see, he barely can move.

After reading all those stories about different LEGO constructions it is really hard to self-control yourself of buying some pack of LEGO bricks. If you are bored then LEGO bricks are definitely more creative way to spend your time than playing computer games.

Here is another amazing LEGO creation which has been done by Jun Brick, a LEGO artist from Japan. He decided to create a LEGO replica of famous Japanese battleship Yamato. His amazing replica has been built from more than 100.000 LEGO bricks and its length is more than 20 feet. It is amazing how Jun Brick managed to precisely recreate some small details on this ship, he even created a flag and placed some crew on this ship, too.

Forget Mendeleev’s table of periodic table of chemical elements. If you are a true nerd, you should learn Russel’s table of science fiction elements and tell your teacher to shut up.

When I was in elementary school I was true modeling enthusiast. I used to create little towns using cardboard and other similar materials which are available for one kid. Creating small buildings and settlements or models of bridges and similar things are pretty nice hobby for those who have some time for that.

This is beautiful collection of photos where you can see how it looks when real buildings are recreated in small dimensions but this collection is also special because it features models of famous buildings made of LEGO bricks.

We all know about superheroes like Spiderman, Superman, Batman etc. but most of us have never imagined what it would look like if such super heroes were present in World War II and similar memorable historical events. Indonesian photographer and illustrator Agan Harahap made some amazing Photoshop artworks. He decided to insert some of super hero characters into famous photos from past, most of them from WWII.

Here you can see a few of his pretty convincing illustrations where super heroes like Batman and Superman are attending some significant events in World War II. But what the world would look like if there were only superheroes and would superheroes even exist without the negative characters at all?

Well, it seem that Agan thought about that, too, so there are also a few of illustrations where you can find the Darth Vader taking some poses with his closest friends like Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt.

Did you asked yourself what do Stormtroopers do, besides of talking “move along”, when they have spare time? Maybe some of them listen some tunes and few of them are making their own. Well, this could be happen if they lives in LEGO world and making fun everyday all day. Enough of words, play it Stormy.

They really knows how to make fun and to entertain themselves. Simply, love LEGO.

Is vanToll777, an artist from DeviantArt, a geek I can’t tell you for sure. But one night in his house he created an awesome thing using his poker chips only. What is cooler than Super Mario, he created some of the Super Mario Bros characters using only poker chips on flat surface. There are 5 of them, including Super Mario himself.
