Awesome Custom Made R2-D2 PC Case Mod

Posted on 13 August 2010 by

Most lovable robot from Star Wars series, a R2-D2 (Artoo or R2 for short) can be turned into a awesome PC mod case. This PC case mod is made for “Science Fiction Case Mod Contest” by Frenki Janse . Best part about it was that the budget for this was low and Frenki spent only $120 in making this case. He said he got inspiration when he saw a R2-D2 Pepsi coolers on the gas station, he was not amazed how they were made, so he decided to make a great PC case mod. R2-D2 PC doesn’t make noises, and contains web cams, fan control and blue lighted feet. R2-D2 was played by actor Kenny Baker in 5 of the 6 Star Wars movies, (but he was credited with appearing in “Revenge of the Sith”, even if he never filmed any scene of that movie) with many scenes recorded using mechanical and CGI techniques.

Today’s Gadgets Designed to Look Like They’re Made in 70s

Posted on 14 July 2010 by

We are living in time of great technological prosperity. Just thirty or forty years ago people were talking about the gadgets we have today in science fiction stories. That gives us enough reasons not to feel superior because we know, if this progress continues, today’s technology will be funny to future generations.

old new gadget 1

Alex Varanese is designer who tried to investigate how it would be if somehow gadgets like mobile phones, mp3 players, laptops or pocket-consoles were designed in 70s. The result is impressive collection of photos where you can see how Alex imagined all those things if they were made 40 years ago. I have to admit that there are some designs in this gallery which could be pretty attractive to some people even today. Some of those designs remind me on steampunk-like creations and we all know how steampunk is popular these days.

Steampunk Stormtrooper Helmet – Steamtroopers Are Coming

Posted on 05 April 2010 by

If you are a freaking fan of the Stormtroopers then you should own one of the helmets. But if you are a true super cool fanatic then you should take your wallet out of your pocket and get some of your precious money for this kind. The Steampunk Stormtrooper helmet, or should we call it the Steamtrooper helmet.

steampunk stormtroopers helmet 1

The steampunk Stormtrooper helmet is made by Brian Rood. As far as I know a little about the Star Wars and Stormtroopers I can see that this helmet is a kind of a different than an original helmet. This is one of his modifications of it, probably the most extreme one. Brian is a true fan of Stormtroopers and all of the helmets that he made are not for sale, yet. As we could find out, Brian plans to sell his his outstanding creations in the future, so you should keep updated if you really want this steampunk helmet modification.

Posted on 31 March 2010 by

It is almost unbelievable how technology is changing fast our habits and the way how we live. Once, the good typewriter was a true fortune, it was also attractive toy and it was almost funny and interesting as computers are today.

For those kids who learned to write with their own hands only, typewriter  and the way how they beautifully printed fonts on paper sheets was a true enigma.

How To Make A Pencil Crossbow

Posted on 26 January 2010 by

John Austin has a knack of creating mini weapons out of everyday items like a pencil, shoelace, penny, clothespin and what not. His book ‘Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction’ gives you an insight into the lethal potential of everyday items that can be transformed into a menacing arsenal. Here’s an easy way to make a pencil bowstring-Arrange two pairs of pencils at right angles using a rubber band to hold them together. You can make good use of a pen (with the refill removed) to form the projectile for shooting arrows and Rubber bands can serve as a bowstring. So, Voila! Your mini weapon is ready for shooting at your mates to have fun.

Posted on 09 October 2009 by

While most of us plod along with our regular Dells and HP machines, the modders are a different breed altogether. Sometimes come up with obscene specifications for their machines. And at other times, they go ahead and create wacky and weird custom cases. Here are some PC case mods created by people who tread the line between obsession and craziness!

5. TIE Fighter by David Barr

TIE Fighter took the first place on the Science Fiction Case Mod Contest. It is made by David Barry which maybe will blew you away. This one presents two things at the same time, the PC and the desk. Pretty cool and of course enough geek to be on this list.

4. Bender by Jan Erik Vangen

One of the most interesting cases which I ever saw. The interesting thing is that this Bender Case Mode is made by scratch and it took 4-5 months to Jan and his friends. Maybe someone will prefer better case with more details but this one for sure is made with love and a lots of creativity.

Wilcraft – Ice Fishing Vehicle

Posted on 27 September 2009 by

The Wilcraft is an ice fishing rig; it’s the latest thing on the ice. There are 4 main aspects of the sport that Wilcraft greatly improves upon:

The first is ACCESS. We all know it takes quite an effort to get your equipment and shelter on the ice and set up. With the Wilcraft — step in — twist the key — twist the throttle and you’re on the lake; effortless… On the spur of the moment you can decide to catch that evening bite and a half hour later head back home.wilcraft ice fishing vehicle

The second is ON ICE MOBILITY. It takes a fair amount of time to ready yourself every time you want to move. With the Wilcraft, the top opens in one motion and in an instant, the hull raises with the press of a couple switches, in a matter of seconds you’re on your way. You are able to fish a lake more effectively and efficiently than ever before.

The third is SAFETY. The Wilcraft has a water tight hull and sealable fishing holes, in short, it floats. As you travel across the lake, the confidence and piece of mind it give you is amazing.

The fourth is an EXTENDED SEASON. The Wilcraft’s extremely light footprint will have you on the ice well before others and all the way through late ice, even after the ice is pulling away from shore. Even after the ice is gone, this ice house does not have to be mothballed, there is a verity of utility tasks it can be used for. With a camouflaged top; be it woods, water, or field, it’s a hunting rig with many of the same merits as with the ice fishing application.

Wilcraft, plain and simple, is a tremendous value.

Dodge Tomahawk

Posted on 18 September 2009 by

Into high dollar bikes? Into high speed? Into super bikes? Well, than the Dodge Tomahawk just might be your baby, if you think you can handle it. The most expensive bike in production, the Dodge Tomahawk is the ultimate in motorcycle technology. This beast will cost you $250,000, and since production is limited to a few hundred models, you better place your order YESTERDAY if you even want to see one in real life!

This monster is power hungry, no doubt about that. This abomination of the road features an 8.3 liter V10 (505 cubic inches) that is capable of bringing a top speed of 400 mph! The bike weighs in at 1500 lbs, making it heavy enough to keep you intact at extreme speeds. The bike boasts independent 4 wheel suspension that will keep you safe on rougher terrain, and it’s shiny metallic cover which is accented by blue and red trim looks space like to say the least!

Are you obsessed with beating your friends off the starting line? Than I don’t think that you would have much to worry about on this bad-boy. This bike can reach 60 mph in about 2.5 seconds, so if I were you, I would secure my helmet.

Technically, this bike has four wheels, not two. So, with this in mind, some people do not actually consider it a motorcycle, but more of a glorified ATV. Whatever the case, the Dodge Tomahawk is a beast. A V10 super bike that looks like it has come straight out of a Batman movie. Is it worth the macho dollars on the tag though? Most say yes. Whatever the case, if you are one of the lucky individuals who get to own this bike, than rest assured that there is nothing in this world like a V10 rumbling beneath you…

5 Facts About Lamborghini

Posted on 21 August 2009 by

Are you a big Lamborghini fan?

Most of us agrees that Lamborghini is a great looking car and I am sure that many wealty people who love cars wouldn´t hesitate to have one in their collection. Cars like Lamborghini Diablo, the Gallardo and the Murcielago are like candy to my eyes. Here is a list of 5 facts you should know about Lamborghini…

Fact 1

Did you know that the fastest Lamborghini, with a reported top speed of 370 km/h,  is the Le Mans version of the Murcielago R-GT model. The fastest street model from Lamborghini, with a reported top speed of 340 km/h,  is the Murcielago LP640. Both of the models have a V12 engine with more than 6000 cc.

Fact 2

Did you know that Lamborghini used to be an independent company, but went bankrupt in 1978 and was sold to Chrysler. In 1998, the German company, Audi AG, became the owner of  Lamborghini.

Fact 3

Did you know that most of the Lamborghini models are produced with a V12 engine, even though the newest model, Gallardo, have a V10 engine oil. No Lamborghini have ever been produced with less than a V8 engine.

Fact 4

Did you know that the first Lamborghini was produced in 1963 and called for the 350GTV. With a top speed of 280 km/h, the 350GTV was extremely fast back in 1963. The first Lamborghini to go faster than 300 km/h came out in 1974 and was called for the Countach.

Fact 5

Did you know that the Countach, the Diablo and the Murcielago all have scissor doors (that rotate up and forward on a hinge near the front of the door), but the Gallardo does not.  Both the Diablo and the Countach are no longer being produced, so the only Lamborghini car with scissor doors today is the Murcielago.

3 of the most expensive motorcycles

Posted on 14 August 2009 by

Of all the bikes out there today, there are some that are considered the most elite. Some bikes are simply worth macho dollars, and those who are willing to pay the price can leave the showroom with a prize worth flaunting! But these high-tagged bikes can’t be found in just any showroom, so here is a breakdown of 3 of the most expensive bikes out there today. Enjoy!

MV Agusta  F4 CC. This bike will run you a mere $133,700 dollars or so. No big deal, right? Wrong. That is a lot of money for a motorcycle, but with a top speed of 195 mph fueled by its massive 198 hp engine, this Italian dream might just be worth it!

Macchia Nera Concept Bike. Ok, on the list of crazy motorcycles, I think this one takes the cake for number one. This bike is built around a Ducati 998RS engine, and is Italian in construction. Considered the ultimate tack bike, this bike will run you about $201,000 (that is, if you can even find a way to order it! It isn‘t built for normal retail sale.)

MTT Turbine Superbike. If you are into dropping $150,000 on the spot for a bike, than you just might be interested. This bike holds the Guinness World Record for “Most powerful Motorcycle ever to enter series production”. The turbine engine in this bike is capable of over 300 hp, so don’t stomp on it hard until you come to a straight stretch!
